Christmas Eve 1968.
The Ynyshir and Ty Mawr, Lewis-Merthyr Colliery Band. Taken from my bedroom window at Avon Terrace.
At Christmas we often had visits from a Salvation Army Band or from the local Colliery Band. When the weather was bad, the bands still came, bringing the best of Christmas cheer with them.
Their playing was heartwarming and uplifting. The neighbours came out on their doorsteps to listen to the carols as the band moved slowly up the street from Avon Terrace and into Standard View.
