The rear of Caroline Street, Blaenrhondda.
These were colliery houses and have long since been demolished. This picture was taken in the late sixties or early seventies.
I visited this area recently on a warm, sunny day. Standing where the houses had once stood, there was a deafening empty silence as I looked towards Pen Pych, the mountain in the distance.
The grass banks where the houses had been, shimmered in the sunlight, surely remembering the ghosts of those long gone, never to return.
I walked back down the slope, away from the Caroline Street that was no longer. I turned and looked at the emptiness for one last time.
